Users can engage with others through interactive profiles and activity feeds, explore valuable content within the “Vault,” and manage their professional journey with personalized tools. Powered by a modern tech stack featuring Next.js, Node.js, and an AI-driven smart assistant, Huey, the platform delivers an intuitive and scalable experience while prioritizing user privacy and engagement.

Problem
Hu Capital faced challenges in managing large volumes of content and user activity, leading to the need for a well-structured information architecture. To balance user privacy with social interaction, privacy controls were implemented while maintaining network-building features. Context-aware content display was developed to enhance usability across different profile views. To ensure a seamless experience, a consistent design system was introduced across the platform. Scalability solutions were integrated to support a growing user base and increasing activity. These enhancements improved platform efficiency while maintaining security and user engagement.

The platform offers comprehensive profile pages that include profile pictures, names, titles, bios, skills (as tags), experience timelines, posts, and recommendations. Users can edit their details, add or manage skills, and update their experience entries seamlessly.

Network Management
Users can explore their networks with recommended and shared connections, view profiles, send connection requests, and potentially access more detailed connection insights.

Content Discovery ("Vault")
A centralized hub for discovering curated content across various topics like Career, Business, and Entrepreneurship, with multiple display options (grid and list views). Users can explore more content within categories using the “View More” feature, apply sorting and filtering, and utilize search with auto-suggest for efficient discovery. Detailed resource overlays provide comprehensive information, including title, author, description, save options, and external search links.

Smart Assistant ("Ask Huey")
An AI-powered assistant offers career and entrepreneurship advice, prominently featured in the notification area and possibly other sections.

User Activity
Design a dynamic feed-style display of user activity, highlighting posts and interactions while adapting the content based on whether the viewer is accessing their own profile or another user’s. Integrate privacy settings for saved posts, allowing users to manage visibility and control their shared content effectively.

Notifications
Implement categorized notifications, including Activity Notifications and Requests, with a clear display featuring user profile pictures, notification text, and timestamps. Integrate a search functionality to enable users to easily find specific notifications.

Project Creation and Editing
Design an intuitive interface for creating and editing projects, incorporating fields for titles, descriptions, and visual elements. Ensure consistent alert dialog messages for user feedback and confirmation, enhancing usability and clarity.
Outcome
We successfully implemented key solutions to enhance user experience, organization, and scalability. Categorization and filtering mechanisms to improve content discoverability while reducing information overload. A contextual UI dynamically adjusted based on user interactions, ensuring relevant information was displayed at the right time. A clear visual hierarchy, including structured headings, icons, and timestamps, created an intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface. Modal overlays enabled seamless content interaction, such as detailed resource views and profile editing, without disrupting the user flow. The integration of the AI-powered smart assistant, “Ask Huey,” provided contextual support without being intrusive. Finally, the robust tech stack—leveraging Next.js, Node.js, and Python/OpenAI—ensured high performance, scalability, and flexibility, making Hu Capital a powerful and user-friendly networking platform.
